Form versus fixture context

Why recent results are only one input in a balanced match analysis.

Why recent results are only one input in a balanced match analysis.

A run of recent results can be useful, but it is rarely the whole story. The same team can look different at home, away from home, against a stronger opponent, or after a change in its schedule. That is why a responsible match preview starts with context. It considers where the fixture is being played, the competition, the available sample, the strength of recent opponents, and the market being evaluated. Form is still valuable when it is used carefully. It can highlight patterns worth checking, but a short run should not be treated as proof that a result must repeat. The best preview is therefore not the loudest prediction. It is the clearest explanation of what the available evidence does and does not support.
